On my work's network I have two XP computers.

In one computer My Network Places shows all the network shares as
shared network folders; I can click on them and browse the contents.

On the other computer, all the shares in My Network Places show up
under Unspecified with the unknown icon I can't do anything with them.

How can i get the second computer to work properly like the first one?

Our network runs a Novell server.

any help would be greatly appreciated, as it is extremely frustrating
not to be able to access the network shares from where they are
supposed to be accessed. I can get to the shares eventually because i
know how to click around to get access via a roundabout way; but most
of my network users wouldn't know how to do this. And they shouldn't
have to.

cheers

Just a shot in the dark, here Diane, but have you checked the share permissions?

Well, depending on what version of novell netware server
you are running, this might help. Download the newest
client version 4.90 with service pack 1 from:

http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=AxWTK6UL8X8~

Unzip to local disk and run the setup program. Use
custom installation and be sure to check IP and IPX.
This should work to correct your browsing issues. Also,
make sure XP has all the updates available from
microsoft. Just something you should keep up with. Hope
this helps.
