Unsigned driver ?

I've recently setup a few machines with Win2k...then added additional
hardware. At the time of installtion...the H/W was automatically detected
and installed
by Windows and there were no problems...but I did get that "unsigned driver"
warning which I just ignored.

Well that was a few weeks ago..but I just now realized that I had not
downloaded any drivers nor used a driver CD...
the H/W was picked up and installed by the OS ( I assume from the inf
folder) so I was just curious as to why that warning appeared?

The only thing I can possibly think of is that the OS was fully updated
before adding the add'l H/W.

Hello philo,

You can set a policy in the domain for unsigned driver behaviour, warn but
allow install.

Thanks for the reply...and yes I know that I can set up the machines to
either ignore, warn or block...
but I was only curious as to why I got the warning since I was using the
built-in Win2k drivers...not any from the device manufacturer.

Philo,

You can set the Unsigned driver notification like so:

Right-click MY COMPUTER | PROPERTIES | HARDWARE tab | DRIVER SIGNING button

Ignore - install all files regardless of file signature
Warn - display a message before installing an unsigned file
Block - prevent installation of unsigned files

Admin Option - apply setting as system default

Hello Newbie,

I have nothing to do with adware, for sure. I take out this part to prevent
misunderstanding, it was just a naming.

Best regards
