Unsaved proxy settings

I have tried to modify the proxy exception settings in IE, but when I
restart my IE, everything is back to the original. Anyone know how to get
around with this problem?

Thank you for your suggestion. I will have a try, but I'm using Windows 2000
which doesn't seems to be on the list.

Notice especially the link (at the bottom) to

<title>KB135982 - How to Configure Internet Explorer to Use a Proxy Server</title>

which implies (but doesn't make explicit) that proxy changes should be
made using the Internet Properties Control Panel applet (not, e.g.,
IE's Internet Options tool.) FWIW my experience with NTx is that
that is the most significant factor in making changes to proxy settings
"stick" and even work at all.
