I am attempting to do a repair install of XP on my Dell PC
and I get the following error message:

unregmp2.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located in
the dynamic link library MSDART.dll.

Can I get past this point somehow? What do I need to do
to finish the repair install? I don't want to do a full
reinstall because I think I will lose all of my programs
and data and I don't have a very recent back up. (my own
fault!)

Thanks for any help!!

Try holding down the <ctrl> key and clicking the OK button repeatedly.
Worked for me. Don't know why though.

When you get an error and can't find anything in Help and
Support (part of XP) or on Microsoft.com then try posting
the error into Google (can't hurt, might help). There were
several results for unregmp2.exe - Entry Point Not Found -
this is one of them. If it isn't exactly what you want try
some of the others

Kevin -

Thanks for your suggestion. It worked for me. I had to perform the
multiple click routine twice in the XP repair install, but it worked.
As I was clicking away (50 to 100 times each case), I would randomly be
pressing the CTRL, SHIFT, and Windows keys. I don't know if this
helped, but am passing along what I did.

I was in this predictament from upgrading a mainboard and processor.
After receiving this message the first time, I eventually tried an old
hard drive I had - It had XP sans SP1. I did not get this error on
that drive and it repaired flawlessly. But the drive that had Service
Pack 1 installed gave me this error. I also noted that the SP1 drive
asked for an Administrator's Password (which I thought I entered
correctly - but it said I didn't). Just passing along my
observations.

Thanks again. My next step was to try and recover files from the drive
(as a slave unit) and then do a reformat and new installation.
Fortunately I back things up OK and it would have been a matter of
inconvenience rather than a total loss.
