Help!! I have databases created using Access 97 which had
me running queries, generating reports from the database.
I recently installed MSOffice 2000 then tried to open my
database thinking that this new suite is backward
compatible with. Much to my dismay, it would not open my
Access 97 databases except as read only prompting me to
convert the database.

I did convert one database but it would not execute the
reports I needed. So I downgraded to Office 97 to be able
to run all my databases again.

Now I am getting "unrecognized database format" on the
database I converted under Access 2000.

Question? Is there anyway I can get Access 97 to
recognize this database? I would appreciate any help
anyone can give me.

Access97 won't be able to read the database that you have converted to A2K
file format.

Hope you still got a copy of the database in A97 file format which you can
use. Otherwise, you will have to upgrade your Access software to A2K
software (again) and then try to fix the database file which was converted
to A2K file format.

You'll need to use Access2000 to convert the database back to A97
format (Tools... Database Utilities... Convert Database). A97 cannot
read A2000 format databases.
