When I opened several excel 2007 files today (.xlxs), they were corrupted. I
received the error message, "Excel found unreadable content in 'Deep Tank
Weight Analysis.xlsx'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?
If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."

When I click yes, the report says several drawing parts, print options,
worksheet properties, , formulae, external formula references, were removed.
I can re-insert the drawings. However, some sheets were completely blank.
How do I repair these files without losing data?

Hi - don't know if this will help you.
I was having that same error come up. My file, though, would open up on
another computer which had the 2003 excel installed on it, but it would not
open up on my computer which had 2007. After much trial and error, i found
that one sheet within my workbook had several omegas (the curvy w) directly
next to a number or letter. I added a space between the omega and
number/letter in each cell. After doing this, I am able to open up the file
in the 2007 version again. Don't know why this helped, but it did. i hope it
helps you too.

Heide,

I don't have any symbols in these files, but I did read that Microsoft has
an issue with using ctl+enter to fill in ranges of data. I do that all the
time. Plus, I went in and renamed about 15 files in one folder. These files
had formula references to one-another. When I pulled the backup of this
folder with the original names, I was able to open them ok. But, excel 2003
would let me rename and it would just ignore the links when I opened the
file. It wouldn't destroy the file.
