On the front screen alongside my name Owner I evidently have '3 unread mail
messages' - I have been into the email account mentioned and there are no
messages there read or unread.. how do I get rid of this message on the XP
front screen.please....?

Hi Edward,

Windows will check any account in Outlook, Outlook Express, and Windows/MSN
Messenger for mail.

When logged in to your account, go to Start, Run, and type Regedit.
Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail and
that will display all the email addresses that the mail counter is checking.

Find the account that it's displaying the unread mail for that you don't
want to be displayed and double-click the value MessageExpiryDays in the
right pane, and change the value to 0.

Then close the registry editor and log off from Windows for the changes to
take effect.

Many many thanks for that...

Where you had message Expiry Days, I opened up Message Count and changed the
value which was showing 3 to 0..

If this is wrong, please let me know..!!!!.. but many thanks again..
