Unplugging network cables

When logging on to the network, if a user unplugs the
ethernet cable from the back of the machine when it
says 'applying personal settings' and plugs it in again
when the desktop has loaded, it ignores the filtered
internet proxy and allows anything through.

Obviously as we are a school this is unacceptable and we
wish to get this sorted ASAP.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can stop people
doing this?

Glue. Seriously, consider an epoxy resin.

Describe the "filtered proxy" configuration a bit more - what, where , and
how configured. and try changing the security option from "number of
previous logons to cache" to zero at the domain os OU level for the
computers. That setting is in security settings/local policies/security
options and then run secedit /refrehpolicy machine_policy /enforce on the
domain controller. The change will not showup on domain members until
reboot. --- Steve

I'd second the glue option. It's a school after all.

But with proper segmenting of your networks the systems in classrooms
and labs shouldn't have proxies as part of personal settings, it
should be forced by topology. Everything goes through the proxy. At
the least, any setting such as this should be based on the system, not
the user.
