Unplugged network cable -> No IP address

Using Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System
Information slecting Components->Network->Adapter the
IP adress becomes empty if the network cable isn't
connected to a network or a hub. Is it possible to change
this behaviour i.e. keeping the IP address even if the PC
is standalone?
