I downloaded a self extracting, self executing printer driver. When I click
on the file I get the warning: Can't create c:\Epson.

This in XP-Pro and I am logged in as admin. When this computer, with a
single large drive in one volume was set up, XP assigned the hard drive as
Drive H. This Shuttle XPC has a memory card reader. All those slots for
memory cards were assigned individual drive letters. C: happened to be given
to a flash memory card..................

So. Should I try to reassign my hard disk as C: or would somebody be able to
suggest ways of getting Epson's self executing file to see drive H as my
hard drive...

Thanks for any help!

Michael,

I've never heard of this happening with a memory card reader, but it seems
plausible. This is a known issue with clean installs of XP on systems with
a ZIP disk installed. Your best bet is to disable or disconnect the memory
card reader and then do another clean install of XP. XP will get C and then
after the install is complete, you can reconnect the memory card reader and
it will get new drive letters, in accordance with what else is on your
system.
