It appears when I originally set-up my computer it link a
user name with the serial number. There is a second user
tied to the OS and it is killing performance as sharing is
an issue. Cannot find how to fix this problem. DO I have
to rebuild? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (I
have XP home)

Maybe I am missing something.
You have two users on your computer and you think that is killing
performance?
This is a stand-alone, not in a domain PC.
You only want ONE user?

Delete all the other users.

Its not that easy, at least I don't think. User "A" is
tied to Serial number... while User "b" is tied to System.

I tried to delete and it wouldn't let me.

Thanks for the help.

Please help... the previous suggestion does not work. See

Olive cogitated deeply and scribbled thusly:

Eh?

while User "b" is tied to System.

Eh?

Log in as Administrator
In Home Edition boot into Safe mode, or in Pro press Ctl-Alt-Del twice
at the welcome screen.
Then delete whatever accounts you want to in Control Panel-Users and
Accounts.
Note - you CANNOT delete the built-in Administrator Account, nor, I
think, the guest account.
