unmountable_boot_volume

All of a sudden, I'm getting this error message and can't
boot. KB indicates either (1) a UDMA controller or cable
problem or (2) corrupt file system, but per KB, error
message does not indicate corrupt files. Could there be a
controller failure even tho it starts to boot? Sounds
like strictly software problem to me.

Power off, open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at
both ends.

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.
