'unmountable_boot_volume' how can i fix this without origional OS

basically, what it says in the title. my computer is BSOD with error
'unmountable_boot_volume'. i know i can fix this by going into the recovery
console on the OS CD supplied with the computer but i accidentally
dropped/stepped on the cd and it broke into several pieces.

i need solution fast as i have data on there i need for work quite urgently.

any help is great, thanks, Daryl.

Some possible quick fixes:
1. Work computer? Borrow the recovery media from somebody with the same
make/model.

2. Contact the manufacturer for a way to download the recovery image.

3. Remove hard drive from your computer and attach it to a different
computer to copy the needed files for access.
