I have a dell laptop with xp professional. After loading the internet PC card with great success and using it all evening, today it won't start windows. It tells me the error message : Unmountable_boot_volume. Unfortunately, it wont allow me to even get into windows in safe mode to delete my new hardware. Is this my problem? Any suggestions?

I get this message when I restart the computer. It first gives me the options to start in safe mode however it ultimately goes to the blue screen stating Unmountable boot volume then this screen freezes and I cannot even turn the computer power off.

Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at
both ends.
Laptop:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.
If that fails:

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without there overlay
software which is not needed anyway.
