My system was operating fine for about 6 months. All of a
sudden I get the following message on the blue screen
during startup. unmountable_boot_volume Any ideas to
correct this? The comp will not boot under any of the
options that are available, even safe mode

Open the computer case and make absolutely certain that the data cable
to the hard drive is fully and properly seated at both ends.

If that does not resolve the problem boot the computer with the
Windows XP CDROM and choose the R option to bring up the Repair
Console.

When it finishes loading and stops at the C:\ prompt enter the
following command:

CHKDSK /R

Good luck
