I'm getting really tempted to try this bios flash now, esp since I
found that my card is one of the ones with the little red sticker over
the X1800 XL on the label on the board. Anyone else successfully
flashed an X1800GTO IceQ3?

i have that card and it will flash perfectly. you can eithr change it to an
XL bios or use one of the modded GTO bios`s that are about. i used a modded
GTO bios with ATIwinflash to change it. it now defaults to 600MHz core and
600MHz mem. doesn`t seem to make alot of difference in 3DMark03 over my old
6800GT AGP card but in 3DMark05 it is significantly faster. my score jumped
up by more than 2000 points! :-) haven`t tried 3dMark06 yet. used to get
about 2200 with my old card.

OK, so I gave it a go - didnt' work :-(

I booted from my USB drive into dos, ran atiflash using the Sapphire XL
Bios from www.techpowerup.com and everything went ok. Rebooted, got to
the WinXP loading screen then everything went black and no logon
screen.

tried it a couple of times, no joy - so flashed back to the original
bios and it's back to stock.

Any ideas?

What Modded GTO Bios did you use - the one from guildwars forum?

OK, so using some info on ocworkbench I decided to mod my original HIS
bios - I changed the correct value in a hex editor (to 18 from 19) and
tried it out - success! Now got 16 unlocked pipelines with the
standard HIS bios running at 520MHz/500MHz

Congratulations! Nice to hear a success story!
