In Visual Studio .NET IDE font settings (Tools, Options, Environment \ Font
and Colors), some installed fonts are not listed. And funnily, when you
choose different selections in "Show settings for:" drop down, different
fonts are missing or listed. For example, for Text Editor, you can choose
the MS Sans Serif font, but for Dialogs and Tool Windows, MS Sans Serif is
not listed. For all settings except for Printer, Tahoma is not listed but
Tahoma Bold is, and Arial Narrow is unlisted while Arial Narrow Bold Italic
is.
Of course, if you select "Automatic" in those settings, the dialogs and tool
windows would probably be displayed in Tahoma font. But my Win XP uses
Simplify Chinese as the default locale so the default font is not Tahoma and
that's how I noticed this. I searched the registry for "FontAndColors" and
found some keys containing the font settings. After I changed those values
to "Tahoma" Visual Studio displayed in Tahoma with no problem. But when I
open the font settings page it will be switched back to Tahoma Bold, and I
have to hit cancel.
I had thought the fonts were unlisted because of some language issue, but I
was surprised to find the same thing happening on our school computer lab
PCs (they are in US). Has anyone else noticed / heard of this?
