Hi!

Could anyone help me to resolve this problem;

I have a Windows 2000 server with ADS,and acts as a DNS
and WINS at the same time with a shared files, and at 100
users. My problem is when several users logged-on and
after few minutes they're disconnected from the mapped
network drive. But, I can ping the IP address of the domain
server.

Thank you..

Are you getting license logging service errors on the server?
If the user clicks on the mapped drive that shows itself as disconnected,
does it reconnect?

There is no logs for the license service errors. My
license is 1000 (per server license). They will reconnect
once I disconnected some of the users in shared folder
session.

What do you think of it?

Thanks.

windows 2000 will disconect resources being used if it detects them as idle
for a certain time period, if i recall corectly this time period is reletive
to the amount of conections to the server-computer. i don't remeber the link
but you should be able to search microsoft's site and find the exact
reference and even a setting to disable this, use the term "red x on mapped
drives".

i believe thats what helped me when i had that problem. are all the mapping
on the AD server? usually i have only seen this when using a peer network
but i suppose it could go both ways.

Yes, all mapping on AD server.

Is there possible that the problem is in WINS? because the
message appear in the client is "remote server is
unavailable" so that all users was disconnected from
mapped drive, and also the WINS is down. They will get a
connection and the WINS will back to normal once I start
to delete some users.

Thanks
