BlankI've developed an Access 2002 (SP3) application on my computer which
runs Windows/2000 Server..
My daughter just installed Access 2002 w/o SP3 on her new computer which
runs Windows/XP.
I emailed my application to her for testing in WinZIP format.
After unzipping the db file she tried to open it in Access, but access
refused to open the application because the zone was not known.
The Tools./Security menu does not deal with zones. Neither does the
Windows/XP control box/security feature.
Where do I go to fix this problem? Will applying SP3 fix this?
Thanks
Jim

Hi, Jim.
Will applying SP3 fix this?

Unlikely. These intranet zone settings are intended to be manipulated from
Internet Explorer, not Access or any of the MS Office suite applications.

Quite a few bugs were introduced in Access 2002 by MS Office 2002 SP-3, so
your daughter may want to hold off on installing this service pack just yet.
She'll need to contact Microsoft for the hotfix, because it isn't available
for download from Microsoft's support Web site. Get the hotfix before
installing SP-3, so that the hotfix can be immediately installed afterwards.
To my knowledge, there aren't yet hotfixes that cover _all_ of the known
bugs in MS Office 2002 SP-3.

Please see the MS Knowledge Base article on the following Web page for
information on the hotfix:

Where do I go to fix this problem?

Please see whether the following MS KB article helps:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=303650

Even if this article doesn't describe your daughter's situation, the article
lists the necessary settings for the Access 2002 database to be opened
without the warning.

HTH.
