After a few days of normal operation a W2k Prof. machine
tends to become impossibly slow and sluggish. The reason
for this is still unknown. Norton finds no viruses when
the HDD is tested in a separate system. The only anomaly
found so far is the following error message (event ID =
7000) listed by the Service Control Manager, system
section:

The service "Tdlpt" was not started because of the
following error:
The system cannot find the required file.

Can anyone pinpoint "Tdlpt" to an application? There is
no "Tdlpt*.*" file on the system.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for your immediate reply!

I would like to point out though that a service not
started by the Service Control Manager (at least if the
required file is not found) is consequently not listed
under:

.....Administrative Tools | Services.

There seems to be some information on "TDLPT" under:

http://www.lockware.com/ref1/Installation1.htm

Thanks again,

Bernard

If you go to Start | Settings | Control Panel |
Administrative Tools | Services | double-click this Tdlpt
service | Path to Executable you can see what the
executable is that the service is looking for and where.
You can also set the Start up behavior to Manual to see if
it is necessary. If iit tries to start when it is manual
then rest assurred it is being called by something else.
What that might be look in the Dependencies tab. It might
not be called by what is there just that it depends on
those services to Start. HTHmessage news:[email protected]...

That is not accurate. There are many people that find that IIS Admin does not start and it is listed in Services. But if my suggestion didn't help I tried.
