Hi there all,

I have a small problem that has been causing me loads of
grief. I ave a windows 98 computer with IE6 installed.
When i try to open a web page, it throws up an error
about "an invalid page fault in module (unknown)" Outlook
express works fine, and when i run a cd with an internet
interface, it works fine. I have gone through and tried to
troubleshoot through msconfig, but had no joy as of yet. I
can however boot into safe mode and open internet explorer
therer. I have tried removing and re installing IE as
well.

Does anyone have any additional ideas to help me.

Many thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

Many thanks Frank. Ran adaware and spybot and cw sgredder
before posting. Neither helped. Have however taken the
bull by the horns, and re-installed 98 over the top. This
has resolved the issue, and now finding over 200 malware
on the system. Many thanks for you input.
