Unknown Error - while playback

It is a Windows Media Audio/Video file about 550 MB. The total length of the clip imported is showing as around 29 minutes but while playback it is playing around 11 minutes. Could the file be corrupt? Are there any tools available to repair the file

What kind of source file is it? and how big
 
What tool did you use to split the file? Does the file playback with
Windows Media Player?

While transfering from the Digital Camcorder, I pressed the Pause button and then created a new project for the remaining. The second part is playing fine with no loss in data. I am presuming that I might have messed up during the Pause session and it might not have saved properly

No. It does not play completely in Windows Media Player either. It is playing only a portion of it and then stops

Is there any way to retrieve
