This may be a little tricky to troubleshoot....the problem described below
happens on my father's computer, so I'm not there all the time to find the
problem.
Anyway, he has an HP machine running XP, SP2. Recently, he has noticed that
every now and then, when the computer is just sitting there and not running
anything in particular, a small window will pop up in the middle of the
screen. All it say is "Error"
There is nothing else at all describing the error....no numbers, no
description. The only thing is an "OK" button which, if you click on, clears
the pop up error message.
I did catch the error just now, and I looked at Task Manager. CPU usage was
low. In the applications tab, the Error application was running. If I right
click on that and select "Go To Process," it jumps to the Process tab and
highlights CSRSS.EXE.
Any clues as to what I should do in order to try to find what is causing
this error? I don't know if CSRSS is causing it....it may just be the
process which actually brings up the Error message.
My dad has run a virus check and a Spybot check.....but has found nothing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
