Unknown Device

I have an unknown device on my puter. It has a question mark on it in Device
Manager. I upgraded from 2000 to XP thinking XP would pick it up, but no
luck. It says there is no driver for it, and as it is a laptop, i don't want
to open it up. Is there a way i can find out what the device is, or as
everything seems to be working, should i just ignore?

Thanks

You need to install drivers for your laptop for the XP operating system.
Go to the laptop mftr.'s website and download drivers and any
laptop-specific software (power management, etc.) for XP. Install same.

Thanks

I had the same problem with 2 computers

1 i used your idea, the other i used the microsoft update, and both solved it.

I guess i should do the updates before coming here in future - lesson learnt

Thanks for the idea
