I have two home PCs wire-networked by a router. Yesterday I noticed a third
one named "Nimish" in my network neighborhood, but I couldn't open or see
its properties. What a strange name and there's no way for me to come up
with that name for my workgroup or PC? I am very puzzled, and want to get
rid of it. But I can't. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My router has wireless capability if that's what you meant. But I am not

Well, there's no wireless NIC attached to any computer on my LAN. So how
would that be possible?

Think neighbor, coming in wirelessly! I'll bet you didn't put in a
password or even better filter by mac address. Better still do both.
I see other computers from my laptop all the time, I even use their
internet when the one I am working on is down and I need a driver or
something to make it work. You would be SUPRISED how many open
networks there are in the World!

Forgot to tell you, I went on one onetime and even looked at their
kids pictures! I emailed them from an anoymous account and even called
them from a payphone and told them to do something before the wrong
people see what I saw. It was fixed in 2 days.

I pulled into a gas station once and had the laptop running in the front
seat. I connected to someones LAN that was living somewhere near the gas
station. Those signals carry about a block away. Nothing "showed" on the LAN
but I was able to browse the web in my car sitting at the gas pump. I
disconnected after a minute or two,..I'm not out to bother anyone,..but that
is how easy it is to do.
