Universal Serial Bus controllers not recognizing X harddrive

My USB controller is not recognizing my external devices, but it will
recognize my printer and portable device. I uninstalled the external hard
drive and plugged it back in to the USB port. The message states "No drivers
are installed for this device." The hard drive has been working for months
and now it is not recognized. I check event log but nothing unsual. Help!!!

I resolved the problem by shutting down my computer and unplugging it from
socket for a few minutes. Once I plugged the PC back in and booted up. The PC
recognized the USB devices. AMAZING!!! Thanks for the help though.
