I want to delete my version xp that im using now and if i have to delete everything on my hard drive than i will. besides i already copied all my music and docs to my other harddrive.so how would i go about uninstalling this version of xp (if it deletes everything i dont care) and then reinstalling a full copy of xp. I used to have ME on this computer but I bought a full version of xp not an upgrade because ME was so corrupt and i completely formatted ME and did a complete clean installation of xp so if you can instruct on how to go about uninstalling windowsxp and reinstalling it and not get a multi-boot system(its just a really big pain in the butt) that would be awsome
Thank you

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete all the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

9. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:

You need to set your pc to boot from the CD, put the XP CD in the drive and
start-up. During the set-up routine you can select the current windows
installation, delete it and start again with a clean installation

thanx for the help i was wondering if it will make a multi-boot if i do it this way. The only reason why im doing this is becasue my sound device isnt working and windows cant read my system info and gives me this error :it says "Cannot access the Windows Management INstrumentation software. Windows Mangement files may be moved or missing." and another problem is that my computer only gives me the option to have the windows classic display instead of Windows XP display so if any you guys have know how to fix this without me getting rid of xp and doing clean boot that would be the best situation.

Can't help with the problems you have. But carrying out the install as
described will create a clean install of XP, no dual boot.
