Look at the thread below titled "Database" by Raymondo, dated 9/18.
You will find a solution provided by Kathleen that allows you to use
the autonumber assigned by the database. Since the autonumber is
always unique, it would make a good ID

Only thing is I hadn't planned to use a database, just developing a small
site selling pet disks and using paypal for payment, a database seemed a
bit of an overkill, I may be wrong!
I've found some useful sites with tips for using javascript, particularly
for amending the buttons produced by paypal and thought there may be a
simple way of using a bit of script to generate a number.
