I recently installed a programme from a disk ( I had some faith in the file
because it came on a disc contained in a vista magazine)

After installing the ( software ) I realised I didn't want it - it was
unsuitable to my needs;

In all progamme i right clicked then clicked on 'uninstall' nothing
happenened.

I then went to control panel andunstalled in "programmes and features" this
seemed to do the trick however - it left the programme's short cut icon on my
desk top.

I have tried every way to to dispose of it, from click delete to drag it
into the recycle bin but it keeps telling me try to verify the items location
and try again ..

how do I get rid of this icon without a programme?

Im very new to vista.

help!!

thank you

have you navigated to the original folder it was installed into and deleted
its contents as well as the folder itself??
Some programs can leave junk behind...not the Operating Systems
fault..programmer of the "unknown" program did a sloppy job.
Right clicking the icon and clicking "properties" will point you to the
specific file

As for your other post......this is a MS sponsored newsgroup...it is hosted
on their servers but it is a USER to User group.MS staff come occasionally
to help but 99% of the time its just us users.I use the Windows Mail
interface which makes this and other newsgroups easy to use..like sending
E-mail.
What are you using that makes it so User Unfriendly???
