i decided to upgrade from win 98 to xp pro about a week
ago.
since then i've had nothing but problems. constant
crashing, hardware failiures.

before i installed xp it ran like a dream. i've got a
amd3000 procescor lots of ram its not that.
i don't understand

i just wandered if you can uninstall xp and put back 98
and what it will do to saved stuff. if thats possible i
know the shop wont take it back but i'm prepared to write
it off if i could get my computer back the way it was.

it seems much more efficent. i should have got that new
graphics card instead!

If you selected the option to save your old OS when you upgraded you can
uninstall XP from Add/Remove Programs. If you did not do this, or you made a
clean install, then you will have to use a 98 boot disk and reformat your
hard drive. But don't be so quick to dump XP. It is a superior OS. Post your
problems here and someone will help.

Greetings --

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
