Since it was a clean install there will be no uninstall options. If you
want a different operating system, you'll need to format the drive again
and then install whatever you want. Use a boot disk to do the formatting
(www.bootdisk.com is a good place to pick up one of these). Or boot from
the XP CD, format and then cancel the install.

Hi, JT.

There is no "uninstall" procedure for WinXP. Just delete its "boot folder"
(probably C:\Windows).

Or reformat the HD. One way to do that is to boot from the WinXP CD-ROM,
let it reformat, then abort the install.

Boot with XP CD and select the option to Repair using the Recovery Console.
You will be prompted fro the Administrator password. At the command prompt
type and press Enter Key depending on the format choice you wish to be left
with.

FORMAT C: /FS:NTFS

or

FORMAT C: /FS:FAT32

If you decide that you want to partition the drive first then before running
the FORMAT command type DISKPART at the command prompt. It will give you a
screen with the partitions on it and the option to delete and repartition if
you desire. You can then run FORMAT.

When finished using the Recovery Console remove the XP CD and type EXIT and
press Enter to reboot.

It's not a matter of "easiest." There is *no* way to uninstall
it. All you can do is remove it by formatting the drive. You are
then free to install another operating system.

Hi,
Go to the homepage of your HD's manufacturer. Download
a tool "Write Zeroes Test", or something like that - each
manufacturer has such tools, free for downloads on their
homepage. Copy it to a floppy. Enter BIOS, change the
boot sequence to a floppy - as the first bootdevice, boot
your machine and execute this small program. On the same
homepage you'll find instructions how to implement it, by
the way it's very simple. What it does, it's simply
explained: it writes zeroes to the HD(s), does make quasi
a clean sweep of your drive(s). Now you've got a good
basis to install your OS again. This way you'll be sure,
not to have any remainder of the "old" OS on your drive(s)
at all. Then do continuing and install the OS again.

How do you uninstal windows XP??

If Windows XP was installed as an upgrade from Windows 9x (95/98/ME) and
file system was not converted from FAT32 to NTFS, in add-remove programs in
control panel there should be a link to `uninstall windows` that will revert
your system to the previous OS you were using.
