Ok. My IBM computers hard drive crashed. whoopy. we took it to best
buy, got a new hard drive. yay.
So we come back home, ready to sit down for about 6 hours to install
Windows XP. We find an old Compaq cd and see if it works in an IBM. It
did, until it asks for an validation thing. So i find out my id from
which i used on my comp and it didn't work on this. so we go online and
purchase an IBM restore pack, which includes os.
Now, even when i plop the IBM cd in, it wants me to finish the compaq
setup. i tried goin to safe mode command prompt...it didn't let me.
Is there a way i could just remove the OS's files...during
installation?
Every time i turn on my comp its askin me to complute the setup.
Help me please!

Is the Restore Pack CD bootable? If not then your system is trying to boot
the hard drive.

I really don't know.
It is trying to boot the hard drive. The restore is in a set of 4 cd's.

Is there any way i could format the hard drive from this point on?
thanks

Only if you can convince XP to commit suicide. To get done what you want to
get done, you must boot from the CD drive.

How would i boot from the CD drive?
When i do plop the cd in, it starts the previous installation and asks
me to put the other Compaq CD in.
