You should be able to de-install it.
There are plenty of ways described if you google on the net on "deinstall
vista".

But the solution depends on a few things:
1. Is windows Vista your only OS ? (I for instance use a dual boot, whcih
means I have to fix the mbr back to normal)
2. have you made an image of your original OS ?
3. did you upgrade your winxp to Win Vista ? or did you do a clean
installation ?

Kind regards Vince

KCP...I believe you can 'uninstall' Vista. The only major problem is the
Vista bootloader, and it must be deleted using something like Easy BVD or
Vista bootpro. Then, the partition on which Vista is installed may be
deleted.

There may be complications if this is a dual install, or the Vista partition
does not have the MBR, but you can rebuild the MBR using fixmbr and fixboot

There are people here who can help you with "uninstalling" Vista, but they
will need to know more about where you are, and where you are trying to go.

First how did you install Vista? Was your installation of Vista successful,
or did it fail?

Did you upgrade Windows XP or a previous version of Vista?

If so, do you have data that you need to save?

Did you do a clean install of Vista?

Do you have an image of the system you are trying to get back to (XP or
previous version of Vista) ?

Do you have a restore disc?

Do you have an OEM or retail XP CD?

Did you do a dual boot installation?

If so, do you have two or more partitions on one hard drive, or two or
more hard drives?

I too got totally fed up with Vista and unitstalled it from my system. It
takes care but is not impossible. It is designed to be a difficult process -
MS does not want any backslding on their profits.

I had to purchase a new full install copy of XP Service Pack II for full
price. $199.
I also had to make sure I had the install disks CD-ROM's or DVD's for all
my software. Don't forget to make sure you have the correct key codes.
Once you have done that here are the steps.

Back up your hard drive, I used an external Hard Drive to keep all of your
files.

Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive to install XP.

Make sure your system is set up to boot from a CD ROM.

Insert the XP install disc.

NOW HERE IS THE CATCH - YOU HAVE TO REFORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE!

Goodbye VISTA.

Next install XP.

Once installed let it update for all of the critical updates and any others
that make sense to you.

Then reinstall all of your software from the discs.

Make sure you install your anti-virus software.

Next copy back your data files from your back up source.

Then over the next week or two, as you use your computer you will find a
variety of things that you need to reinstall, reregister, re-enter the
keycodes etc.

It is not a simple task. I bough my computer from DELL and also my new copy
of XP, I could not get any rebate since I was running Vista for 5 months.
(Hey I though MS would fix it.) So Dell support gave me a lot of help in the
step by step,

I am much happier now with XP.
- I know the interface cold
- It runs quite a bit faster
- I got back 30-40 gigabytes on my hard drive that Vista took up
- Fewer crashes and I don't lose all my setups whenever they upgrade XP like
happened with Vista.

I am much happier.

In a nutshell you can Nuke Vista, it took most of a weekend, but it was
worth it.

You do not uninstall it. You can install over it or delete the partition it
is on and create a new one. What do you want in its place? If you are
trying to revert to something you had before Vista then simply use the
backup you made before installing Vista, if you made one.
