uninstalling vista

Have vista installed as upgrade over xp media, I want to delete it and go
back to orginal O/S I have all install disc from computer. Do I simply boot
from the XP cd then format the drive??
The reason I am doing this is, no matter what I do I cannot get I E 7 to let
me on the internet
