uNINSTALLING tREND INTERNET SECURITY

I am having problems uninstalling Trend Internet Security. I tried
Wndows (Vusta Ultimate), Revo Uninstaller and the Trend Uninstaller,
all unsuccessfully. Are there any onther uninstallers that might work?

Hello Mike:

As is the case with some application removals, unanticipated
difficulties will arise that can't be gracefully handled by the usual
uninstallers.

Through Trend Micro support, seek their "task specific" uninstaller for
*that* specific and exact product. It may even become necessary to
/reinstall/ the product, immediately followed by _only_ the task
specific uninstaller.

Please post a follow-up to this thread with your results.

I tried reinstalling from the installation dick but the uninstaller
that is part of the installation couldn't uninstall the previous
installation. I thought that would be a task specific uninstaller.

Hello Mike:

You have not related your product's full and exact identity with
version, and that makes this a bit harder.

If your Trend Micro application's folder is still present, (C:\Program
Files\Trend Micro\) drill down further and seek either of two files:

PCCTool.exe
TISSuprt.exe

If one of these are still present, execute and go through their
uninstall tab for a possibly more thorough uninstall.

Else:

Trend Micro may have had to write an uninstaller that is not always well
known nor documented. Contact the Trend Micro support folks. Make sure
you give them the full and complete description with the exact version
information.

I restored all available TM files from the recycle bin then the TM
installation disc uninstalled it ok.

The reason I was trying to uninstall TM IS 2009 from my HP 64x laptop
running Vista Ultimate, was that, as with the previous couple of
editions, I have hed problems with the updates not working after a
while, and when I have to reinstall, as aftert a HDD crash, problems
getting the reinstalled program to be recognised as a paid copy. I
don't suppose you would know if there is a permananent solution to
these ongpoing problems?

I have exchanged emails with the support people on each occasion, but
it usually takes some time before I get a good result, if at all.
