Uninstalling programs

I looked long and hard across the Web but can't find a definitive answer.
Time to ask the pros.

I monitor installs of most programs with my Quarterdeck nee Symantec
CleanSweep.

Most programs have their own uninstall icon and many also have a listing in
the remove program area of the control panel (I use Win98 SE).

The question. I want to uninstall a program. I monitored it with CleanSweep.
Will I get the best results using CleanSweep, the program's uninstall option
or by using the uninstall via the control panel.

Also, is the remove program option in control panel the same as the
uninstall option that comes with the program?

While we're at it... any monitoring/uninstalling programs available that
work better than CleanSweep?

TIA!!!!

Thats exactly the same thing.............

Using the Add/Remove applet is the same as using the programs uninstall
utility directly..... In saying that, using the programs uninstall utility
is normally almost always a better option than a third party application
(including Clean "complete cr_p" Sweep)

Yes.....

I personally don't use them, but alot of people seem to like Total Uninstall
or whatever it's called.

Some programs un-install programs deliberately leave behind registry
entries to see if you install the program again. There was a thread on
this recently. Cleansweep is supposed to monitor the installation and
remove everything. Other unilities like InControl5-used to be freeware-
make a record of exactly what the original install utility did so you
can remove everything.
If you have Cleansweep-not freeware- I'd use it.
