Uninstalling previous XP

I needed to reload my OS (Windows XP Home Edition) from CD
but subsequently dscovered that it had loaded on a
separate partition of my hard-drive with the original XP
untouched. How do I unnstall the original XP as now when
booting up I am asked what OS I want to load as I have two
versions of XP present?
 
Use system properties, advanced, startup and recovery and make sure the
installation you want to use in the default box. Set the timer to zero.
Then use Windows explorer to delete the original systemroot.
