I got a nasty virus that deleted my sys. restore, win security etc and had to
reinstall win xp home edition losing professional in the process. However I
wanted to delete the files that ran on XP Prof before but was told to
uninstall as deleting may make OS wonky. But I don't know how to!! Since
they're not showing up on my add/remove files thing. Need to remove office
etc.

Please help. I am a damsel in distress!

Why did you not reinstall pro...? Did you do a clean install of home..
(format the hard drive)..?

One would have to, AFAIK - you can't "upgrade" pro to home. So, it would
make sense that no apps would show up in add/remove programs.

I didn't mean to say upgrade pro to home but vice versa... I had XP
Pro..installed by the people who i got puter from (Microsoft people) but when
i had to reinstall windows I was back to home edition. No idea how to
retrieve pro if thats even possible? As for formatting the hard drive, Not
entirely sure how to do that either. Should I just chuck my laptop out the
window to save myself from the stress or leave it to the experts? But any
replies on why my former xp pro is now xp he would be really really nice..

THank you.
