uninstalling Norton AV

I recently installed AVG free on a friend's PC with significant improvements to
its performance and later fully uninstalled Norton using add/remove.

Having cleared it out of the programs list from ZoneAlarm too, I noticed today
that it seemed to have crept back in there.

How the heck do you totally get rid of the last vestiges of its miserable
existence ?

Go to the Symantec site and download the NAV removal tool which will
clean out all remnants of NAV. Print out the instruction page and
follow the steps

search for norton removal tool on symantec's website.

It exists because the add/remove thing doesn't entirely do it.
