Due to a virus problem I can't access parts of Windows
XP - explorer, add/remove programs etc. I can't reinstall
XP as it keeps telling me to uninstall GoBack which comes
with Norton SystemWorks. I've removed the virus and
edited the registry as per Norton's instructions to
remove all traces of Goback and it now doesn't load on XP
startup but when I try to install XP it keep telling me
to uninstall Goback!. Does anyone know where the hell XP
is finding Goback and how can I get rid of it properly?
This is driving me daft - any suggestions are most
welcome apart from reformat C drive - surely there's a
better way.

Contact Symantec. Goback alters the partition table and they'll be the ones
that can best talk you through what needs to be done using the tools they
supply. I could send you to some free tools but I'm really hesitant to do so
for the simple reason that you may have a boot sector virus. Manually
altering the partition table, unless you know exactly what you're doing,
while a boot sector virus is in play will typically loose the data and hose
the drive.

And once you do finish getting things back together, destroy the Goback
media.
