I have two different copies of windows XP professional operating system
loaded on my computer. Does anyone have an idea of how to remove one of them,
without losing both?

Just delete the folders/partition associated with one and then manually edit
the boot.ini to reflect only a single installation. If things go wrong you
can always use recovery console and the fixboot command...
