uninstalling a specific windows critical update

Besides carrying out a system restore (Win XP Home), is there a way of
uninstalling the last critical update for fault-finding purposes, then
re-installing afterwards?

Assuming one knows the name of the critical update files, that is

You can go to Control Panel and uninstall it from there, That is, if you
haven't removed the remove option. You would have to go back to Windows
Updates to reload it after you uninstall an update.
