I have a question that I hope someone will respond to. I'm getting ready to
update BitDefender Internet Security 2009 to the 2010 version. The 2009
version must be uninstalled first. When I install the 2010 version I will do
it on a clean boot. What I was wondering is, should the uninstall of the old
version also be done on a clean boot?

Not sure about BitDefender but "other" will do the uninstall and a
reboot before starting the new version install.

You should do the uninstall yourself before starting the new version
install. As a clean install, this might be "over-kill." The most
important thing is to make sure to disconnect this PC from the
Internet during the time the BitDefender is not installed.

Bit Defender will uninstall all previous versions when installing a new updated one.

Yes that is the best thing that can be done. Then everything is a clean
upgrade
