Uninstalling a phantom program

I have a program that shows up on my Start|All Programs list. I right-click
on it, click delete and am informed that Add or Remover Programs is the way
to proceed. I try this and see that the program is not listed.

I did a search for the program. Found the shortcut. Right clicked on that
for Properties, found a target address listed. Tried to navigate to this
target address. Doesn't exist.

Must be some hidden file or other subterfuge.

Any clues how I can rid myself of this annoyance?

Try to uninstall program from add/remove program and if not able to uninstall or even after uninstalling successfuly it shows in add/remove program.Just remove the key which depicts to the particular program from the following locatio

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstal
