You just don't uninstall xp unless you archived your
upgrade. If you didn't upgrade, then take the operating
system that you plan to install on your machine and boot
from cd from the bios. Go from there.
You cna only install under certain conditions, one of those being that you
did an upgrade in the first place. What is it that you are trying to
achieve? And what were you hoping to uninstall to?
