uninstall XP

I have been having crash problems with my Dell Deminsion
2350. I am recieving an error message that indicates the
software. After having exhausted all the Dell tech
support resources, they have told me to uninstall XP and
re install it fresh. I am not sure how to go about this.
Do I need to back up any files to disc first? How do I
find the uninstall for XP if it is not listed in the
remove programs files? Has anyone else experienced
constant physical memory dump crashes?
 
what is the error message exactly. you can't 'uninstall' xp, only reformat
the drive and reinstall it or another operating system. what is the error
message exactly?
