Uninstall Windows XP Security Center

I was just fine with McAfree until i installed the Service Pack 2. I'm not
sure i had windows security before or what, but now it is really annoying. Is
there any way to uninstall it, or put my windows security center back to the
way it was? Because I'm getting very annoyed by it. All it does is slow down
my computer, and i dont need the extra security.

The Windows Security Center does not slow down a computer.
All you need to do is make some alert adjustments.

Open your Control Panel, then double-click the Security Center icon.
In the left side, click on the link titled: "Change the way Security Center
alerts me" and uncheck what you wish.

If you don't want to receive the Security Center Alerts you can turn them
off.
Start->Control Panel -> Security Center.

Select the Link to change the way Security Center Alerts me - and uncheck
the check boxes.

That's only a partial answer to the question. Can the Security Center be
deleted or uninstalled? Same about the idiotic IE information bar.

I don't think it would be prudent to try and defeat
the excellent security features implemented with SP2.

Launch the Services component of Administrative Tools and change
the properties for "Security Center" to Disabled.

Yes it does. Takes a machine longer to boot with Security Center service
enabled.

Wish I. Knew

Simply unchecking the miniscule three options MS has provided will not
remove the blanket port blocking this wonderful new little free tool
offers.
I wish that I had the correct answer; however, I do not... If someone
discovers how to truely *Remove* this great gem, please let the rest
of us know.

I am amazed that even after selecting *off* this app continues to
block ports. It also continues to do so after the "I have a firewall
that I will monitor myself" option has been checked. In the MS world
there is no way to have a firewall unless someone is joined to a
domain, then they automatically asume that there must be such a device
and _state_ that the service does not install when SP2 is applied.

Good Luck to All!
