Your instructions are incorrect. Just launch Win2000,
then rename d:\Windows to Windows.bad. Now wait
a week, then delete d:\Windows.bad if all is well.

You may also want to remove the WinXP item from
the boot-up menu. Click Start / Run / notepad c:\boot.ini {OK},
then delete the line that says "Windows XP".

Buy a retail Full copy of XP Pro/Home (whatever you have).Next do
a repair reinstall.

You will on the way be asked for the Product Key - give the one that
comes with the new CD.In this way you will not only make your XP legal
but will also retain your exsisting applications.

If you still want to uninstall it then boot from the WinXP installation
CD. You'll get options to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process.

You can also remove it from boot menu:-

You could use a 98 disk and boot not using cd support then fdisk. you
can wipe out the windows xp partition and the reformat the old
partition so you 2000 can then use the space. I would research fdisk
because I belive there are easier ways if you aint sure. Hope to point
you in the right direction.

Why wipe out a whole partition if it is sufficient to remove a single
directory? Sounds a bit drastic, with no room for second thoughts . . .
