uninstall windows media

is it possible to uninstall windows media, all traces and version and stop
being prompted for windows media update?

what about on windows 2000 pro?


I just don't seem to be able to uninstall. from add/remove program, windows
component. I always get prompted to install gazillion security updates for
them

What is windows media?

If you mean Windows Media Player, get a Windows XP N Edition, they come
without it.

so there is no way to uninstall?

The PC does not have office installed. I am trying to strip ti won to its
bare minimum. It is just being used as ftp server using 3rd party software.
