I wanted to give Win2K a try. I installed it on my
computer. I used the FAT32 version, which enabled me to
retain WinMe also. Win2K created a partition on what
remained free space of my hard drive.

I tested out Win2K and could not get any drivers to work.
I am using an HP laptop. I could also not find the user
manager (I used in WinNT to assign rights to certain
users). I logged in as administrator, but Win2K still
would not allow me administrative rights.

Now I want to remove Win2K. Is it possible to uninstall
Win2K and return the unused portion of my hard drive to
WinMe? I cannot find an unistall program for Win2K on the
disk.

Thank you,

Dave.

There is no uninstall for any operating system. You have
to delete it through DOS or ME, just like any ordinary
files, when it is not running.

You can boot with your WinME startup disk and issue the command
sys C:
this will rewrite the boot sector, then you can delete these files boot.ini,
ntldr, ntdetect.com, bootsect.dos, pagefile.sys and possibly ntbootdd.sys
from the root of the System partition C:\., then you can delete the Windows
2000 boot partition or possibly the \winnt directory (whichever the case)

Thanks for the help. I still may install Win2K later as
NTFS, when I get all my programs so I can reinstall them
on Win2K. My wireless card and Zip drive (where I saved
most of my applications' installation programs) would not
work on NT.

My question now is how do I access User Manager to assign
rights to users (adminstrative and so on)? Is it the same
as WindowsNT. I cannot find it in Administrative Tools.
Maybe it is renamed as something else? On fact, when I
shut down and went back into Win2K, the entire
Administrative Tools folder was empty.

Thanks again,

Dave
